Speaking Out on Drug Trafficking

Share

I am writing to express my concern regarding the drug trafficking in Orange County high schools. It seemed only years ago when drug use was a hidden “hobby.” Now that times have changed, teen-age drug abusers in county high schools not only brag of their usage but also criticize the students who are not involved. The majority of teen-agers feel that not only is drug use enjoyable but is also accepted in our society today.

I am not just another adult looking in. I’m a student at San Clemente High School who sees the problem growing day by day. I do not have a solution to this and I am not here to play “God,” but I cannot understand why people find it necessary to use drugs to make them happy and secure.

It is time for students also concerned with this problem to speak out and stop hiding behind people who have convinced them that drug use is the key to the “good times.”

If peer pressure can make students consume drugs, why can’t it make them stop?
