A Garden Grove man has died of injuries he received when he fell from the back of a pickup truck driven by his brother, the California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

Steven Cangi, 23, was riding in the bed of the pickup truck on Sunday night when his older brother drove off the right side of a narrow dirt road near Lake Elsinore, then swerved back to the left and up an embankment, the CHP said.

The truck rolled over, landing upside down in the middle of El Toro Road, the CHP said. The younger Cangi was airlifted to Riverside General Hospital, then transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died Monday morning.

An autopsy had not been completed Tuesday, a spokesman for the San Bernardino County coroner said.

The older brother, 24-year-old Michael Cangi Jr., was checked at a local hospital, then booked into Riverside County Jail on suspicion of drunk driving, CHP Officer Terry Taylor said. The Highway Patrol will seek an additional charge of vehicular manslaughter, he said.

Three other passengers in the truck--one in the bed, two in the cab--suffered minor injuries in the accident, Taylor said. The three are John Angelsberg, 22, and Thomas Ledbetter, 25, both of Garden Grove, and Roger Bayson, 22, of La Habra.
