Segota, Zungul Head All-MISL First Team

Tacoma forward Steve Zungul, the leading scorer in the Major Indoor Soccer League, and San Diego midfielder Branko Segota were the only repeaters on this season’s All-MISL first team, which the league announced Wednesday.

Socker defender Fernando Clavijo also was named to the first team, and Socker goalkeeper Jim Gorsek was named to the second team.

Zungul, a former San Diego Socker, was named to the squad for the seventh time in his seven seasons in the MISL; Segota was chosen for the fourth time.

Also on the first team were goalkeeper David Brcic of Pittsburgh, forward Erik Rasmussen of Wichita and defender Kim Roentved of Wichita.

Roentved was a first-team selection in the 1983-84 season.

Named to the second team were forwards Tatu of Dallas and Craig Allen of Cleveland, midfielder Chico Borja of Wichita, and defenders Bruce Savane of Baltimore and Bernie James of Cleveland.

Sockers selected to the honorable mention team were Kevin Crow and Brian Quinn.
