A Chula Vista man who shot a police officer and two of his trailer-park neighbors in 1982 because he was angered by their barking dog was resentenced to 45 years to life in state prison after a second trial that resolved his sanity. Alys McNair, 61, was found to be sane by an appellate court April 9. McNair pleaded guilty in 1983 to three counts of second-degree murder, but an appellate court ruled last year that the sanity issue had been left unresolved and overturned the original sentence.
