Two men were killed Monday when their four-wheel-drive car rolled down a 50-foot hillside in Angeles National Forest north of Canyon Country, officials said.

Wilton Jainess, 52, of Los Angeles apparently lost control while driving on a fire road in the Texas Canyon area, a popular spot for off-road-vehicle enthusiasts, California Highway Patrol spokesman Al Evans said.

The name of the second victim, a 41-year-old Los Angeles man, is being withheld pending notification of his family, Evans said.

A 14-year-old Los Angeles boy also riding in the vehicle was strapped in with a seat belt and received minor injuries, Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Larry Wild said.

The two men were apparently thrown from the vehicle, Wild said. They were pronounced dead at the scene by county Fire Department paramedics, he said.
