Bail of $500,000 was set Tuesday for a San Carlos man accused of soliciting someone to murder his wife’s parents and sister.

Judge Dick Murphy of San Diego Municipal Court set the bail for John Christopher Williams, 34, as recommended by the prosecutor. Williams pleaded innocent to three counts of soliciting murders and burglary.

One of the intended victims, Melvin Moss, 66, of Coronado, asked Murphy to set the high bail. Williams is accused of soliciting a hit man to kill Moss; his wife, Corrine, 61, and their daughter Rosemary, 34.

“I first became aware of the plot to murder me on May 16,” Melvin Moss testified. “I have not been able to sleep since . . . except through complete exhaustion.”
