The $1.5-million civil trial against former Raider defensive end John Matuszak began, with the prosecution claiming that he attacked a male stripper and an emcee after crashing a “ladies night” in Castro Valley, Calif., on May 23, 1980.

Matuszak allegedly tossed stripper Daniel Fisher across two bar tables and onto the floor and threw two punches at the dazed performer.

Michael Markowitz, attorney for Matuszak, countered that the former football star was urged by some women in the audience to take off his clothes but politely refused. Someone then threw a drink, and according to his attorney, Matuszak asked Fisher, who was on stage dancing, whether he did it. The stripper grabbed Matuszak around the knees and tackled him, Markowitz said.
