The district attorney’s office said Thursday it will not file a misdemeanor criminal complaint against drug counselor Bob Meehan for having operated his SLIC (Sober Live-In Center) Ranch in Escondido for three years without a license from the state Department of Social Services.

Meehan’s application for a state license was denied last week and he closed down SLIC Ranch, a companion daytime therapy and counseling center and a teen-age peer counseling center, all in Escondido, pending an appeal.

“We were interested in bringing Mr. Meehan into license compliance or closing down his unlicensed facilities,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Douglas Gregg said. Since Meehan is no longer in business, the district attorney’s objective has been obtained and there was no point in pursuing the matter, Gregg said.
