Garden Grove police arrested a Venice couple after they allegedly robbed a Harbor Boulevard restaurant of $450 and then tossed cash out of the window of their getaway car. Sgt. Paul Prince said about $170 was recovered along the San Diego Freeway after the arrests of truck driver Gary Elerick, 37, and his wife, Gloria, 32. After the robbery at Love’s restaurant, a description of the robber and getaway car was broadcast to law officers. Garden Grove Officer Richard Morales spotted the car and a high-speed chase ensued. Morales followed the car north on the freeway as bills were thrown out of the car windows, Prince said. The car was stopped at the Long Beach Boulevard off-ramp and the Elericks were arrested. Prince said the rest of the money is unaccounted for, and “probably just blowing in the wind somewhere.”
