Jetliner Nearly Collides With Small Airplane

CHICAGO —
An American Airlines jetliner with 88 people on board was forced to pull up suddenly to avoid a twin-engine Cessna aircraft, Federal Aviation Administration officials said Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
John Hotard, an American Airlines spokesman, said the planes passed within about 500 feet of each other. Hotard said Flight 368 was en route from St. Louis when the incident occurred.
