“Disney Magic: The Animated Features,” an unprecedented retrospective of all 26 Disney Studios feature-length animated films, will be held at the County Museum of Art this summer beginning July 6, Disney Studios Vice Chairman Roy E. Disney announced Tuesday.

Disney said that the series would be the first showing of all the studio’s features in one festival, making a “cinematic history of Disney animation.”

Disney Studios Vice Chairman Roy E. Disney is the nephew of the late animator and film maker Walt Disney, not his brother as stated in a Calendar article Tuesday.

“It’s sad to think that this will represent the past--I know Walt never would think of it that way,” added the brother of the late pioneer animator. “But I’m glad, too, because it marks a new beginning for Disney animators. We’re back in the full-time business of making animated features.”

Disney said the studio would seek to make one animated feature every 18 months. “The Great Mouse Detective,” based on Eve Titus’ “Basil of Baker Street,” the studio’s latest animated effort, is scheduled to open July 2, and will be screened at the museum on Sept. 27.

All 26 Disney features and numerous short subjects--beginning with 1937’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”--will be screened at the museum’s Bing Theater on Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays through Sept. 27. There will also be four seminars with the makers of such animated films as “Fantasia” and “Pinocchio.”

“This will also mark the first showings since their release of such Disney rarities as ‘Victory Through Air Power’ and ‘Saludos Amigos,’ ” said LACMA director Earl A. Powell III.

Tickets for each of the Disney shows will be $5 ($3 for museum members, students with ID and seniors) and will be available at the Bing Theater Ticket Desk (information: (213) 857-6201).
