Hermosa Beach : Tax Exemption Denied

Share

The City Council rejected a proposal to exempt low-income residents from the city’s utility users tax.

The proposal would have established an exemption for about 1,450 households with income levels of less than $10,000 a year, similar to the current exemptions for elderly and disabled residents.

But residents would need proof of a continued low-income level, which could have presented enforcement problems, a city report said.
