USC Tennis Coach Richard Leach Advances to the National 40s Grasscourt Semifinals

SANTA BARBARA — Richard Leach of Laguna Beach, coach of the USC tennis team, advanced to the semifinals of the National 40s Grasscourt Tennis Championships with a 7-6, 6-3 victory Friday over Gil Howard of Daley City, Calif.
Also making it to the semifinal round of the event for players 40 years old and up at Montecito Country Club was Charles Hoeveler of Ross, Calif. Hoeveler defeated Dennis Trout of Corona del Mar, 6-3, 6-3.
In the other quarterfinals, David Bohannon of Garden Grove defeated Ed Grubb of Santa Barbara, 7-6, 6-3, and Walter Johnson of Atlanta beat Chum Steele of Cohassett, Mass., 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
