Providing Assistance in a Direct Way to Those in Need

No, I did not join in Hands across America.
What I did was drive from my modest Laguna Hills home to Santa Ana to meet a friend whose church takes in the street people. They are given soap and a towel to wash themselves, then provided with clean clothes.
Not only did I go through my own and my husband’s wardrobe and our linen closet but I also solicited my friends and neighbors who thought my efforts worthy. And they responded with many items.
I’ve been doing this about a year. I call it direct giving.
Just look around for the needs, then pitch in. It’s great therapy that reminds us to be grateful for our blessings and a bit humble.
