Share

About 2,000 “Trekkies” will descend on the Disneyland Hotel on Saturday and Sunday to wallow in “Star Trek” memorablia at the Creation/Starlog Convention in honor of the 20th anniversary of the television show.

The convention will feature a Huckster’s Room full of just about anything a Trek fan could desire: photos, posters, magazines and probably, a pair of removable Vulcan ears (the most salient feature of Leonard Nimoy’s Mr. Spock.)

Many of the long-running show’s original cast members will be on hand: Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock), DeForrest Kelley (Dr. McCoy), Walter Koenig (Mr. Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura), Mark Lenard (Sarek), Majel Barrett (Chapel) and Grace Lee Whitney (Yeoman Rand). Gene Roddenberry, the creator of “Star Trek,” plans to attend also.

Paramount Studios will present a nine-minute trailer from its upcoming film “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home,” along with a related slide presentation. Other scheduled events include a costume contest, a trvia contest, the marriage of two Trek fans from Houston (they’ll wear their Starfleet costumes) and a slide show on the American historical perspective of “Star Trek.”

Most events will take place in the Grand Ballroom and the Exhibit Hall at the hotel. Tickets are available today through Ticketron and at the door this weekend.
