Reagan’s Undoing of SALT Treaty

Share

Goodwin’s column makes the point that “Opposition to the wrongs of power is the course of true patriotism--not only a right but an obligation.” He goes on to say that we shall now see if those elected to represent us in Congress will “take up arms” against President Reagan’s statement that the United States will not continue to honor SALT II.

How many of us--ordinary citizens--have made our voices heard on this most urgent issue? All it takes is a phone call to the Executive Office of the President--(202) 456-7639--to make our voices heard directly to the President. If each of us picked up the phone right now and called that number to state how we feel about the proposed violation of SALT II, our collective voices would give a direct message to the highest elected official in our country.
