“POISON LOVE.” Blood on the Saddle. Chameleon. Maria McKee . . . Legal Weapon’s Kat Arthur . . . Emmy Lee of the Red Devils . . . L.A.’s rock scene is turning out impressive female singers the way the American League is coming up with hot rookies. One with a lower profile but equally strong credentials is Annette Zilinskas, whose radiant voice sends the Saddle’s eclectic sound into emotional overdrive on the quartet’s second album. The poppish opener “One Step Away” sounds like a tribute to her former group the Bangles, but she’s even better on material with traditional folk and country elements, where the melancholy edge in her voice imparts a haunting quality to the music. The fast, rowdy tunes spotlighting the guy in the group, Greg Davis, are less distinguished, and the two singers haven’t yet found the vocal chemistry for their duets. When they do, they might become the new John and Exene.
