Regarding Dan Sullivan’s statement that “Nicholas Nickleby” should be “akin to an all-day Kabuki performance, with . . . eating allowed in the auditorium. We aren’t sophisticated enough for that. . . “ (“ ‘Nicholas II,’ ” June 8):
It’s not the audience that’s unsophisticated, it’s the Ahmanson Theatre management.
Even at $100 a seat, there were only 52 minutes for dinner during the breathtakingly stunning June 14 marathon performance.
“Nicholas Nickleby” would be better served by the Hollywood Bowl where eating is allowed, seating is on one general level, and there are plenty of walkways to enlarge the play’s arena.
