La Palma : Motorists Warned Away From Intersection Work
City officials are asking motorists to avoid the intersection of Valley View Street and Orangethorpe Avenue during a major reconstruction project that is blocking two lanes of each street.
Mary O’Neil, assistant city manager, said the project is expected to continue until the middle of October. The project includes replacing old pavement with asphalt, building two landscaped medians and new computer-regulated traffic signals.
Trees and grass will be planted on the medians, which are expected to prevent motorists from making dangerous left turns.
The work is taking place on the southeast corner of a 40-acre redevelopment project, O’Neil said.
