Boxer David Braxton has been stripped of his North American Boxing Federation 154-pound title after cocaine was found in his system following a May 22 title fight in Detroit, a NABF executive said.

The head of the Michigan Athletic Board of Control said Braxton faces likely suspension after admitting to him that he took cocaine before the fight.

“It’s on the record that there was an admission that the substance was consumed on the day of the fight,” said Dr. Stuart Kirschenbaum, chairman of the Michigan panel.

Braxton, who won the NABF super welterweight title with a unanimous 12-round decision over Ken Snow of Tyler, Tex., will likely be suspended for 90 days retroactive to the fight and will be required to submit to testing on demand in the future.
