Redondo Beach : Police Make ‘Final’ Offer
Redondo Beach police officers, whose contract with the city expired Tuesday, presented the City Council with their “last, best and final offer” for a new labor agreement this week.
Ralph Royds, president of the Redondo Beach Police Officers Assn., said the proposed contract includes a 5% salary increase, maintenance of current medical benefits and pay incentives for bilingual officers. The city is offering a 4% pay increase and a new medical benefits program, which, according to Royds, would double the cost to members. The council met in closed session Tuesday to discuss further negotiations with the 74-member union.
