Services Planned for Dorothy Dean Beaumont

Memorial services for Dorothy Dean Beaumont, former administrator for UCLA and the Los Angeles Unified School District and widow of prominent marine artist Arthur Edwaine Beaumont, will be held at 11 a.m. July 12 at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Laguna Hills.

Mrs. Beaumont, 89, died Sunday in a convalescent home near Leisure World, Laguna Hills, where she previously had lived. Private graveside services were conducted Wednesday at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana.

Mrs. Beaumont was born in Santa Ana in 1897 and was raised in Orange County. She graduated from UCLA, received her master’s degree from USC, then served 43 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District as teacher, counselor, vice principal and administrative chief of all English and social studies instruction in intermediate schools.

She later returned to UCLA to serve as assistant dean of women.

Mrs. Beaumont is survived by two sons, two daughters, 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
