BOND, PIERCE BOND?

Share

We read with delight Morgan Gendel’s article that implored Cubby Broccoli not to turn 007’s Walther PPK over to Pierce Brosnan (“Tough as Steel, But No 007 . . . ,” June 29).

As followers of the Bond films since 1962, we agree wholeheartedly that Sean Connery was indeed the quintessential Bond. However, Roger Moore--though deserving of credit for a noble effort these past 13 years--clearly did not fit the role. We accept his resignation.

But now--Pierce Brosnan?? No way! Nothing personal, Pierce, but we shudder at the thought of yet another decade or two of Bond movies with the wrong actor in 007’s shoulder holster.
