Neiman-Marcus to Spend $1 Million on Its Store

As workers continue to renovate the outside of Newport Beach’s posh FashionIsland mall, Neiman-Marcus announced it will do some sprucing up of its own with a $1-million refurbishing.

The improvements to the carriage trade department store, which began last week, are scheduled to be finished in September. Most of the work is being done on the first floor of the 3-story store and coincides with the current, $5.5-million phase of the mall renovations.

The bill for all phases of the Fashion Island mall renovations and additions, scheduled for completion in October, 1987, could be as high as $85 million. The grand total for the mall project--including the mall’s new Atrium Court addition--should reach $115 mil1818849134nearly 200 stores at project’s end, according to Steve Phillips, the mall’s development manager.
