$100 Million to Aid Nicaragua’s Contras: Pro and Con

Share

Winning salesman that he is, President Reagan has succeeded in wooing Congress into voting $100 million to fund what The Times accurately calls Reagan’s “dirty little war” in Nicaragua.

Chances are the only ones most likely to gain from Reagan’s meddling in another country’s affairs are a few greedy contra leaders who will ride first class on this Yankee gravy train all the way to their Grand Cayman banks.

What they don’t siphon off for themselves will be used to buy guns and ammo needed by CIA-trained Nicaraguan renegades to carry out hit-and-run attacks on civilians in rural villages.
