$100 Million to Aid Nicaragua’s Contras: Pro and Con

My prediction that the $100-million aid to the Nicaraguan contras would notpass the House was wrong. Reagan’s arm-twisting scared congressmen into the belief that this was the road to reelection. And the gnomes of Zurich are rubbing their hands in anticipation of the secret bank deposits that will be their share of this pot of gold.

Here’s another prediction: The next payment in this giveaway will be made in blood: The blood of American troops. I came back alive from World War II. But I fear that my grandsons will not come back alive from the swamps and jungles of Nicaragua.
