A 31-year-old Thousand Oaks man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for attacking a local woman with a stun gun and attempting to steal her house.

Tony Morgan Amundson was sentenced by Ventura County Superior Court Judge Charles Robert McGrath on Tuesday for the May 9 assault of Ann Bergo, in which, sheriff’s deputies said, Amundson shot Bergo repeatedly with a stun gun, handcuffed her and demanded that she give him her house in Thousand Oaks.

Bergo suffered cuts and electrical burns on her back and required hospital treatment.

Amundson’s sentence included an extra five years for a previous second-degree murder conviction in the death of a Minnesota woman, said James Duncan Ellison, a Ventura County deputy district attorney.

In the May 9 attack, Amundson released Bergo after she told him he could have the house, deputies reported. Amundson then returned with his wife 20 minutes later to claim the house and was arrested by investigators, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Amundson pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted extortion, Ellison said, but he refused to discuss the crime with authorities.

“He’s chosen not to give any details on why he did it,” Ellison said.

Amundson will be eligible for parole in 5 1/2 years.
