FALL SEASON AT PAVILION FOR JOFFREY

Share

The Joffrey Ballet will open its fall season on Sept. 11 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with the company premiere of Sir Fredrick Ashton’s “La Fille Mal Gardee.” Former Royal Ballet principal (and Los Angeles resident) Stanley Holden will come out of retirement to dance his role of the Widow Simone with the company.

Also on the schedule for the three-week engagement--part of the Joffrey’s 30th Anniversary season--is the world premiere of a yet-to-be-titled piece by Mark Morris, the highly acclaimed Seattle-based modern-dance choreographer.

Other unfamiliar repertory includes associate director Gerald Arpino’s “Valentine” (a 1971 work which will have its local premiere) and Mark Haim’s “The Gardens of Boboli” (originally created for the Joffrey II).
