AirCal’s Passenger Miles Up, Occupancy Rate Down

Share

AirCal said it logged 199.4 million revenue passenger miles during June, an increase of 11.8% over the like period last year. A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of one paying passenger carried one mile. Load factor for the month was 55.6%, meaning that slightly more than half of all available seats were occupied. June’s load factor was down from last year’s 63.8%.

For the first half of 1986, revenue passenger miles totaled 997.2 million, up 10.8% from last year, the Newport Beach-based regional airline said. Load factor for the six months fell to 54.6% from 58.7% a year ago.

An increase in the number of planes AirCal flies and the addition of several new routes since last year account for the increase in revenue passenger mileage at the same time the carrier’s load factor has decreased.
