Local News in Brief : Picus to Head Panel on Hazardous Waste
West San Fernando Valley Councilwoman Joy Picus has been elected chairwoman of the Southern California Hazardous Waste Management Authority.
The authority, made up of representatives of eight Southern California counties, was created last year to find “equitable” ways to dispose of hazardous wastes, Picus said.
In a related development, Picus on Monday asked the city Board of Public Works to design an inventory system for hazardous wastes generated by city agencies.
