OCTD Bus Mishap: An Orange County Transit District bus driver had to slam on the brakes suddenly to avoid hitting a car Friday, causing minor injuries to several passengers who “fell around” from the commotion, an investigator said. Traffic officer S.C. Turnbull said the unidentified driver had to stop suddenly when a car swerved in front of the bus on Edinger Avenue near the intersection of Broadway. The No. 70 Sunset Beach bus was not damaged but another was dispatched to continue the route. The bus driver, Turnbull said, soothed some of the passengers and helped them onto the second bus. Several people complained of sore necks and a few of them were treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. There were no serious injuries, Turnbull said.
