A teen-ager who refused to fight with gang members at a convenience store was chased to the side of an apartment building and shot to death, police said. Francisco Gonzalez Ortega, 18, had gone with friends to the store at 9th and Westmoreland streets when some gang members tried to talk with Ortega and his friends and were ignored, police said. Ortega and his friends went into the store, made their purchases and were confronted again as they left. The victim and his friends ran and the gang members chased them to an apartment building at 2833 W. 8th St., where Ortega was shot and killed, police said. No one else was hurt. No arrests have been made.
