The pilot of a small plane that crashed during a landing at a private air strip in Chino died as the result of severe burns he suffered in the accident, authorities said. The Piper Super Cub flown by Richard Bradford crashed during a landing at an air strip near his home, injuring a woman passenger and setting off a 120-acre brush fire that threatened to destroy the house. Bradford, 48, stumbled out of the burning plane with a broken leg and was pulled to safety by a rescue worker. He was airlifted to the burn unit at San Bernardino County Medical Center, where he died. His passenger, Sandra Hill, 21, was burned over half of her body and was in stable condition at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center. Cause of the crash was under investigation.
