A former Los Angeles Police Department officer has been sentenced to five years’ probation after pleading no contest to charges that he sexually molested a 15-year-old girl. Michael Casados, 40, must undergo psychiatric care and have no contact with the victim, under the terms of probation set by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Arelio Munoz. Prosecutors agreed to a plea-bargain with no prison time because the girl refused to testify in court, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael E. Barton. Casados, who resigned from the police force after his April arrest, had been charged with molesting the girl over a five-year period. In 1976, he was suspended from the police force for six months after being found guilty of sex acts with a female Hollywood Explorer Scout.
