Tiger on Loose in Northeast Pa.
Jittery residents armed themselves and stayed indoors as an air and ground search for a tiger loose in the densely wooded mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania was pushed today.
State police reported no new sightings of the animal, described as a white or off-white Bengal tiger weighing 300 to 450 pounds. A man out for a stroll first spotted the tiger lying in the middle of a highway about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. About four hours later, the animal was sighted a second time by helicopter. State police said they had no solid leads on the animal’s origin.
