San Francisco’s planning director and an assistant were attacked on the street in front of the Office of Community Development by a man wielding a lead pipe, police said. Dean Macris, 54, was released after treatment at St. Francis Hospital for a bruised leg. The aide, planner Peter Groat, 57, was hospitalized with a fractured knee. Police booked 33-year-old Michael Glenn Roberson on two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
