Huntington Beach : Suspects in Ice Cream Shop Robbery Arrested

Two men who allegedly used a toy gun to rob an ice cream shop were arrested a short time later by police, who spotted a truck matching the described getaway vehicle, officers said Tuesday.

Jack Dean Orens, 34, and Edward Estrada, 31, both Huntington Beach residents, were booked into City Jail on suspicion of armed robbery Monday night, police said.

An air pistol replica of a .357 Magnum Colt was allegedly recovered from their vehicle, officers said.

One of two men brandished a gun at the Baskin-Robbins store, 5971 Warner Ave., at 7:40 p.m., officers said. Police said the men took $67 from the register and fled in an old red pickup truck.

Officer Tom Donnelly later spotted a truck matching the described getaway vehicle traveling south on Golden West Street.

The two suspects were stopped and arrested in the area of 19th and Orange streets, police said.
