Costa Mesa : Car Crashes Into Home, Severs Natural Gas Line

Share

More than a dozen residents were forced out of their homes early Thursday after a car crashed into a house and severed a natural gas line, police said.

The evacuation was ordered shortly before 5 a.m. after the car slammed into the living room wall of a home in the 700 block of West 20th Street, tearing the gas meter loose.

While the Fire Department stood by, Southern California Gas Co. crews shut off the gas supply to the area and repaired the broken line. The residents were allowed back into their houses at 8 a.m., officers said.
