New tests show paint chips found on the tanker Golden Gate match paint on the Jack Jr., which sank off San Francisco in May, after being rammed by an unidentified ship, an attorney said. Quentin Kopp called for the U.S. Coast Guard to reopen its hearing into the sinking of the Jack Jr. Kopp, representing the family of ship captain Jack Favaloro, who died in the May 26 accident, urged Golden Gate officials to “come clean” and accept responsibility. A Coast Guard expert, who did similar tests, said paint from the two ships did not match. However, Kopp said the new tests, which were completed about two weeks ago, show they “match exactly.”
