Rookie quarterback Hugh Millen, the Rams’ third-round draft choice from Washington, broke his right ankle in a scrimmage against the San Diego Chargers before a crowd of 24,380 that was admitted free to Anaheim Stadium Thursday night.

Millen was injured near the end of the two-hour scrimmage when he slipped without being hit while dropping back to pass. Moments earlier, he had completed his only attempt, to William Stone for 45 yards. Millen is apparently out for the season.

Ram running back Eric Dickerson led all receivers with 8 catches for 87 yards, including a long pass down the right sideline from Steve Bartkowski for a touchdown.

Bartkowski and Steve Dils each completed 9 of 13 passes, while starter Dieter Brock connected on 5 of 14.
