San Diego
A homemade pipe bomb exploded in a North Park residence early Saturday, scorching the walls of one room but causing no injuries, a San Diego Fire Department spokesman said.
Another pipe bomb also was discovered in the house, at 3130 Howard Ave. Surrounding buildings were evacuated, and an ordnance team removed the unexploded bomb and detonated it.
The bombs, thrown into the home through windows, did not cause a fire, said Rob Drake, fire information officer. The smoke from the bomb that went off prompted the report of a fire, and the incident is under investigation.
