The State : S.F. to Vote on City Pay
San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein has endorsed a charter amendment that, if approved by voters on the November ballot, would rectify pay inequities for women and minority city workers. The measure would allow the Board of Supervisors to raise the salaries of 7,000 of the city’s 23,000 employees to achieve equity. “This is a great day for women and minorities,” said Isabel Huie of the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women. About 200 cities, including Los Angeles, have approved similar measures to erase the “gender gap.”
