Expectant Father’s Car Crashes; 1 Dead
A man rushing home to take his expectant wife to the hospital has been charged with vehicular homicide after his car collided with a vehicle driven by a sheriff’s officer, authorities said Wednesday.
Roy E. Deering, 60, a Davidson County sheriff’s lieutenant, was killed in the wreck Tuesday night. His wife, Ramona Deering, 53, was critically injured, police said.
Traffic Lt. Michael Mitchell said Roger K. Hammers, 28, ran a red light and collided with the car driven by Deering. Relatives took Hammer’s wife, Deborah, to Donelson Hospital and she gave birth to a girl early Wednesday.
