Culver City : Overland Widening Postponed

Share

The Redevelopment Agency Monday postponed the widening of Overland Avenue next to Ships restaurant to give its staff time to prepare a plan that would save the 1950s-style diner.

Work on the plan is expected to take several months and the staff will meet with affected property owners and tenants, according to a staff report.

The agency on June 30 directed its staff to prepare a plan to close off access to Ships from Overland and join its parking lot with the Culver Center shopping mall. The decision came after some residents and preservationists protested an agency proposal to demolish or move Ships to widen Overland and lessen traffic congestion.
