Malibu : Dewatering Project to Begin
Soil Sampling Service Inc. of Puyallup, Wash., will drill 10 horizontal borings in a local landslide area under terms of an $87,495 contract awarded last week by the Board of Supervisors.
Supervisor Deane Dana said the drains will remove ground water in the area bounded by Deerpath Street on the north and Rambla Vista on the south, and extending along Calle Del Barco west from a point 300 feet west of Paseo Hidalgo to its end.
The borings will extend 200 to 300 feet. The work is being financed by the affected property owners through an improvement district established by the Board of Supervisors.
The dewatering project is expected to lessen the effects of earth movement in the La Costa area, according to Dana.
