Two burglary suspects were arrested early Saturday after leading Fountain Valley police on a chase on the San Diego Freeway and through residential Santa Ana streets, police said.

Booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of burglary was Anthony J. Gonzalez, 26, of Santa Ana, Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Lee Pepka said. Also booked on suspicion of burglary at Juvenile Hall was a 17-year-old male, whose name was withheld because of his age, Pepka said.

Pepka gave this account:

About 2:54 a.m., police received several calls reporting that two men had backed a car through the front window of a Radio Shack electronics store in the 17000 block of Magnolia Street, then loaded televisions and video recorders into the auto and fled.

Fountain Valley Officer Kevin Arnold spotted a car matching the description of the suspects’ vehicle on the freeway and followed it onto Fairview Street and into Santa Ana, Pepka said.

As the chase continued through residential streets, the suspects threw a television and video recorder from the vehicle. The chase ended at McFadden and Standard avenues, where both suspects were arrested by Arnold and Pepka, who had joined the pursuit in another patrol car, police said.
