Women Arrested on Child Endangering
Two Watts women were arrested Saturday on suspicion of child endangering after one woman’s 23-month-old daughter died, apparently after drinking a glass of water containing drugs.
Police said they found an undisclosed quantity of drugs in a home at 1307 East 115th St. shared by Joyce Arch, 20, whose daughter, Monica, died Friday, and Joann Wallace, 30. Arch’s other daughter, Monique Black, 3, and Wallace’s son, Edward Boyd, 18 months, also were hospitalized for treatment of chemical ingestion.
Police said the children were playing in the backyard of the home Wednesday when they drank from the water glass, began shaking and passed out.
