Boros’ Future Will Be Topic of Padre Meeting in September
Steve Boros’ future as San Diego Padre manager will be discussed in a September meeting with team owner Joan Kroc and Padre President Ballard Smith, General Manager Jack McKeon said Tuesday.
“Joan and Ballard and Steve will have a meeting in September,” McKeon said. “But it’s not just to discuss the manager, but the coaches and the players, too. Steve’s doing the best he can under the circumstances, so I don’t want to make a big thing out of this.
“Everybody has to accept responsibility for where this club is--me, the manager, the players. We all have to accept a share of the responsibility. With me, I thought some players were better than they really are. But a lot of clubs go through this. The Cardinals have been through it this year. The Royals. Last year, the Tigers. It’s a tough job.”
Neither Kroc nor Smith was available for comment Tuesday.
