La Costa’s Chang Wins Tennis Semifinal Match
Michael Chang of La Costa defeated sixth-seeded Murphy Jensen of Ludington, Mich., 7-5, 6-2, Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the International Boys’ Grass Court Championship.
Jensen rallied from 2-5 to 5-5 in the first set before yielding. Chang broke in the second game of the second set and went on to a 3-1 lead.
In other matches, Jason Netter of Beverly Hills defeated No. 8 seed Trevor Kronemann of Bradenton, Fla., 6-4, 6-2. And top-seeded Greg Failla of San Diego rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Eric Peus of Santa Barbara.
No. 2 seed Francisco Montana of Miami beat Mark Bernstine of Newark, N.J., 6-1, 6-1.
