Santa Monica : Building Named for Edwards

Share

The City Council has unanimously approved a motion to name a proposed building to house the city’s social services offices for the late Ken Edwards.

The planned three-story, $3-million Ken Edwards Building will be at 1527 4th St.

Edwards served as a councilman from 1981 until his death last year from complications caused by a three-year battle with liver cancer. He was 44 when he died.

From 1983 to 1984 Edwards also served as mayor. In 1984 he was reelected with the highest vote total in recent Santa Monica history but lost the mayoral post when the All Santa Monica Coalition won a majority of the council seats.
